Angkor Day One

Friday, December 25 – It’s gonna be hard not to share the hundreds of photos we took of the temples – but let’s be realistic: nobody wants to see hours and hours of temples that they didn’t visit themselves. We took over 500 photos each day. So we’re limiting the photos here to no more than 10 for each temple we visited.

There are more than 200 temples in the Angkor area, but we visited four major temples over two days (plus a couple of smaller ones).

On day one we started with Angkor Wat – the biggest draw – but parts of it were covered with scaffolding and we weren’t able to climb to the very top because of ongoing restoration work. So that was a bit of a letdown.

After lunch we moved on to Angkor Thom – an ancient city that includes several temples, foremost of which is the Bayon. You can see more shots of all the temples on Junkii’s Flickr account.
