Saturday, December 26 – On the way back from the Banteay Srey temple (which is about an hour away from Angkor Wat), our tour guide stopped the tuktuk so we could see a small roadside village where they make palm sugar. He explained how they harvest the palm flower for the fluid inside and then boil it down for several hours. We even got to see them cast the palm sugar into moulds. It was nice to see – and to taste! We got to try fresh and hot (Junkii blistered his finger!) palm sugar.
We picked up three packages of palm sugar for a dollar, too. Yummy!
